The main areas of activity of the department are:

creation of an automated information system of the IFD, which will ensure the automation of information and technological processes for the creation, formation, maintenance, and use of the insurance fund's documentation;

provision of scientific and technical support for the maintenance and development of the state register of documents of the insurance fund's documentation;

developing software for automated workstations in the economic, financial, production, scientific and technical, and personnel spheres of the SFD system's functioning;

development of software for the automation of archival document accounting tasks for use by archival institutions when providing services to users with documentation using Internet technologies;

conducting research and development work on the creation of software complexes taking into account modern information technologies.
